Export & Agency Finance
This part of the Trade Finance's mandate includes the roles of the export credit agencies, development banks and multilateral organizations. Their traditional role of complement lending by commercial banks at interest by the guarantee payment.
These agencies have once again of crucial importance for the trade finance market due to the role they play in the retail, insurance transactions, promoting exports, creating jobs, and become increasingly through direct lending. All are important in the current global downturn.
ECAs are public or private institutions, export credit insurance and financing or guarantees, or both. ECAs can be very different mandates, we do not elaborate on it here (see the annual World Finance Agency Official Manual Trade) is. As the global economic crisis continues, we see a trend towards a liberalization of these agencies has.
The development banks, which are sometimes referred to as DFI (Development Finance Institutions) and the Multilateral have similar mandates, according to their different ownership or regional responsibility. Most have a form of trade facilitation program, which promotes trade through the provision of guarantees.
ECAs and multilateral remains are just a crucial part of the financing of major infrastructure projects around the world as credit from commercial banks.
