Abbreviations and variant spellings (us imports)
Abbreviations which unmistakably the name of a country, such as "Gt. Britain" for Great Britain or "Luxemb" for Luxembourg, are acceptable. Variant spellings which clearly is the English name for the country of origin, such as "Brasil" for Brazil and "Italie" for Italy acceptable. However, it is always better to spell the name of the country in full, because any short cuts can be a cause for confusion.
However, "EC" or "EU" for European Community or the European Union or abbreviations are not acceptable because it is not whether the individual country of origin of the good.
