Default Importing cosmetics, soap, lotion, shampoo, medical and dental instruments for resale/commercial purposes.

The import of cosmetics and medical instruments from the provisions of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act which is administered by the Food and Drug Administration regulated (FDA). All commercial imports of such goods are subject to prior approval by the FDA, by Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will be deleted. If FDA rejects imports of such goods, CBP will not release. It is therefore appropriate that advise importers of these products with FDA to ensure that they are in accordance with its rules. The FDA can be reached at 443-6553 (301) or www.fda.gov.

must be submitted by a CBP perspective, a formal entry, which requires the importer to obtain a bonded CBP Form 301 and submit it together with a summary, cargo manifest, bill of sale or commercial invoice. These documents must be submitted CBP entry within 5 business days after the arrival of the goods, either by the importer or its Customs broker.

CBP does not notify importers of goods, arrival, it is the responsibility of the carrier. If the entry is not later than 15 Days after the arrival of the goods declared, it becomes a general order (GO) Warehouse transfer and subject to storage costs. If they remain in GO 60 days, they will be sold at public auction.

Customs bonds can be purchased by licensed guarantees by the treasury department. A list can be found on Treasury's Financial Management Service of the website, the list of Circular 570 is identified. Many CBP agents are also agents for guarantees and bonds for sale. Please verify the port of entry locations for a list of licensed brokers.

Harmonized Tariff codes and duty rates for cosmetics can be found in Chapter 34 of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule to be found. Medical instruments and tools can be found in Chapter 90.
