Default I am in the military, what can I bring back from Iraq?

If you are in the military and intend, souvenirs and jewelry back to the United States, there are some things you should consider before Sun First of all, you should contact the Military Provost Office, as it maintains its own rules and guidelines that military personnel have to follow. The Provost Marshal's Office has access to General Order One Alpha, the memo, the current information on what military personnel can buy, pack or bring you back to the United States. For example, General Order One Alpha prohibits military personnel from bringing war souvenirs (eg, grenades, ammunition, bayonets, night vision equipment, military flares, mustard gas or other gases or burning equipment or military equipment subject to licensing by the State Department, etc.)

After consultation with the Provost Marshal's Office, you must comply with civil and governmental regulations and requirements. For example creates the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) rules against embargo countries. Although the embargo against Iraq is still in affect, there are some elements that OFAC can bring back (ie, such as blankets, key chains, T-shirts, crafts, jewelry, etc.) For more information about the embargo on the available on OFAC the site.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) regulations prohibit military personnel from souvenir weapons (eg firearms, small arms and parts thereof) bring into the United States from Iraq. Therefore, when returning with weapons that you should by the military, you ensure that your military commands that allow you to wear the approved weapon. Otherwise you will not be entitled to the USA with his arms in force. Switch Blade Knife with military personnel or members of the Special Forces returned are not prohibited. The burden of proof is on the importer to document the swords were purchased legally and do not show a war souvenir, or cultural artifacts. Hidden swords are also prohibited.

The Department of State to prevent stolen cultural goods to the United States. Therefore, before buying souvenirs, you should check the Department of State's website to make familiar with banned Iraqi cultural goods. If you ever seem to be the purchase of Iraqi cultural property, choose to get your return to the United States, you must do the following:

* Prove the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officer that the goods are not Iraqi cultural property and other items of archaeological historical, cultural, scientific and religious significance away from the Iraqi National Museum, the National Library and other locations in Iraq since August 1990 .

* Prove that the goods were purchased legally.

* Military regulations do not replace Federal Regulations and troops must be observed by all when entering goods into the United States.

CBP enforces the laws and regulations of these and other federal agencies created, so if you return to the U.S., you are required to declare all goods acquired while you were in Iraq to a CBP Officer. They should be a proof of purchase (in English) for all purchases made while you were in Iraq.

If the goods are or appear to be Iraqi cultural property, you need a receipt and a written explanation of the merchant indicating the goods were supplied legitimately acquired. If the dealer is not willing to forward these documents, you should not buy the goods. Under no circumstances should you buy goods from vendors on the street, you can not provide a receipt. If you cultural property to bring the U.S., not valid evidence that the goods were purchased legally try to deliver, they will be subject to seizure. You will find this is more of a hassle than it is worth.

There are no restrictions on bringing Iraqi currency (if currency amount to $ 10,000 or more a "Report of International Transportation of currency or monetary instruments" FinCEN Form 105 are required), postage or other printed matter with Sadaam Hussein's picture in the United States. Invoices must portraits from the gallery show to accompany legal purchase.

Under no circumstances should you try to bring computer software, bootleg products (eg DVD or CD) or pornography. The MP at the base is to confiscate these goods.

If you put those goods in the U.S. and the MP they seized tried not they are in possession of the CBP. Therefore, you have the problem with the Military Provost Marshal's Office were at the base address of your goods.
